Introduction
For the last 10+ years I had a 3 monitors setup. I decided to upgrade to a six-monitor setup to enhance my productivity for programming, following trades, and more. Here’s how I built a six-monitor stand DIY on a budget. Here's a picture of the final result.
Why Six Monitors?
Initial Research
I explored several options for six-monitor stands:
Why Not a Single 49" Screen?
2. New Purchases:
- Bought a 2-monitor stand for monitors to be stacked vertically. Cost with shipping: ~25 GBP.
- Bought another 3-monitor stand from eBay. Cost with shipping: 14 GBP.
3. Assembly:
- Calculate the diameter of the main stick (the metal pipe that goes up) from the 2-monitor stand.
- Ensure the arms from the 3-monitor stand fit the diameter.
- Combine both of the 3-monitor stands on top of the pipe from the 2-monitor stand to create a 6-monitor stand.
(I advise against this type here because of how the monitors are positioned. You would be looking at a wall.)
Type B:
(This is the type of stand I prefer because of how you can bent the monitors around you.)
Advantages
Considerations
Conclusion
By creatively combining parts from different stands, I built an efficient and cost-effective six-monitor setup. This DIY approach saved money and allowed for a customized configuration.

- Local stores - Varied prices and options.
Why Not a Single 49" Screen?
- Cost of a decent 49" screen starts at 350 GBP (~$450) each.
- Two 49" screens plus a stand would exceed my budget.
- My existing monitors are cost-effective and functional.

What type of a six monitors stand to buy and what not to!
Type A:(I advise against this type here because of how the monitors are positioned. You would be looking at a wall.)
Type B:
(This is the type of stand I prefer because of how you can bent the monitors around you.)
Advantages
- Cost-effective: Total cost was less than 60 GBP.
- Customizable: Allows for a bent arc setup for better screen visibility.
- Utilizes existing monitors and stands.
Considerations
- Ensure the arms have joints for flexibility.
- Verify compatibility of diameters between different stand components.
- Base plate stands take up desk space, but arm-only setups avoid this issue.
Conclusion
By creatively combining parts from different stands, I built an efficient and cost-effective six-monitor setup. This DIY approach saved money and allowed for a customized configuration.
